The rainy season is in full swing. We’ve had days and days of rain, more rainy days than I’ve seen in any single stretch since I moved here. The good news is that there have been no significant storms so far this year. The bad news is that we have 2.5 more months to go!
The monsoon season in Baloy is generally not a huge deal. Baloy Beach is well-protected by the mountains that wrap around the North, East and West, and is somewhat protected by Subic Bay to the South. We get some pretty highs winds, and of course, torrential rains during Tropical Storms and Typhooons, but at least the bay and Grande Island protect us from tsunamis.
I don’t really mind the rain. It cleans things up and will eventually get rid of all the lahar and dust from the devastating eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. It has been nice and cool, though humid (duh!), and it’s good to beat the heat for a little while.
We’ve had two beautiful days of sunshine in the last 6 weeks, I’d guess. When it’s nice, it’s very nice, and that sort of makes up for it.
